Last week I was able to catch up with 2019 athlete Justin Menard (6’0″ 180 lbs) of Stockbridge, Georgia about his recruitment. Since I last spoke with Justin, he has added an offer from the Mountaineers to go along with his other offers of Central Florida and Liberty.
“I was shocked when I got offered because I figured a power 5 school wouldn’t come after someone like me,” Menard said. “It’s a very nice program in my opinion, but I want to go take a visit to see more of the campus.”
When I asked if West Virginia would be a school he heavily considers he responded, “Oh yes, of course!”
Menard has the capability to play both receiver and defensive back, but it appears the Mountaineers will be recruiting him for his offensive skill set. “My offense in high school runs the same plays that West Virginia runs for their slot receivers,” Menard pointed out. “It would be a smooth transition.”
Menard is a true speedster, he is the type of player you just need to find a way to get the ball in his hands in the open space and let him do his thing. Route running will be the main focus once he reaches college and only has to worry about playing one side of the ball.
No decision date or visit date has been set, but a visit to Morgantown is very much in play for Menard.
