Mountaineers junior quarterback Will Grier has been named the Big 12’s Newcomer of the Week for the fifth time this season. The Mountaineers starting quarterback has been consistently setting records throughout the season since taking over as the team’s quarterback in the season opener against Virginia Tech.
Since starting for the Mountaineers following Grier’s well-discussed transfer from Florida, the Mountaineers quarterback has shown exception skills and agility all while putting up incredible stats left and right. Grier has become a joy for Mountaineers fans across the country to watch show up and play each Saturday, quickly becoming a fan favorite after his first few games.
Grier currently ranks second nationally in passing touchdowns with 34, third in passing yards with 3,440 yards, fourth in passing yards per game with 344.0 yards per game and finally seventh nationally in passing efficiency at 163.5.
The Mountaineers are currently AP-ranked 24, sitting with a 7-3 record as the team goes into their final two games of the season. The Mountaineers take on Texas for the final home game of the season; as well as celebrating the seniors on Senior Day, before traveling to Norman, Oklahoma to take on the Sooners to close out the regular season.
