Huggins Explains Sagaba Konate's Absence Against American University

As the starting lineup was announced Wednesday night for the Mountaineers home opener against American one name was mysteriously absent, sophomore center Sagaba Konate. He was on the bench, he was dressed, and he didn’t look injured.

It is common for Huggins to make lineup adjustments leading up to games so most did not think about Konate starting on the bench. However, it was soon obvious that the 6’4 center out of PA was not going to see playing time that night.

Huggins explained Konate’s absence in his post game talk show with Tony Caridi, “he needs to get with us”.

While Huggins did not elaborate much past that statement it is clear that Konate not playing as a coaches decision, and not due to injury.

When asked when Konate would return Huggins stated, “I plan on playing him Saturday”.

The Mountaineers will take on Morgan State this Saturday at 7:30 PM at the Coliseum.
