It’s been just over two years since loved Mountaineer and former Los Angeles Rams player Stedman Bailey was in the wrong place, at the wrong time and was the untimely victim of a shooting. Bailey was shot in the head, effectively putting the brakes on his NFL career in an instant. Now, the wide receiver is working toward making his comeback, proving that if you put your mind to it, you can do just about anything.
Bailey spent the 2016 football season as an assistant for the Mountaineers football team, where he was given the opportunity to finish up his degree and use the time to get stronger and rehabilitate toward a comeback. Nearing the end of 2017, it looks like the goal of comeback is close around the corner for him.
Bailey has undergone numerous surgeries over the past two years, and the recovery he has had has been nothing short of remarkable. Mountaineers fans remember Bailey for his explosive feet and physicality on the football field, It looks, through Bailey’s twitter feed, that those two traits have never left him and he is truly defying the odds.
Whenever one is faced with an obstacle, however big or small, the way that person reacts shows their character. Stedman Bailey has used this obstacle and has done everything to overcome it, and work toward his comeback. Judging by the video above, it looks as though he is on his way.
The wide receiver is putting in work off the football field with the hopes of making to the NFL once more. Judging by the skill set in the above film clip, it looks like Bailey is on his way to returning to the level he is known for playing at.
Taking a situation that is devastating and life altering, and turning it into as positive as possible shows the strength of this Mountaineer over the years. It goes without saying, but it’s going to be fun to watch this comeback.
