With just a little over a week remaining in non-conference play the Mountaineers sit atop the Big 12. With only TCU accumulating more wins so far this season (10-0) WVU has quietly positioned itself as the highest ranked team in the conference.
Currently ranked No. 11 in the AP Poll the Mountaineers are ranked higher than Kansas (No. 13), TCU (No. 14) and Baylor (No. 21).
The Mountaineers also boast the second highest RPI in the conference at No. 11, behind only TCU who currently sits at No. 7.
WVU is fully expected to enter conference play 11-1 and riding an 11 game win streak when they face Oklahoma State in Stillwater on December 29th.
The Mountaineers are also currently projected as a 3 seed in the way-to-early ESPN bracketology. The Big 12 currently has 7 teams projected to make the field.
