Is WVU finding a hidden gem late in the 2018 recruiting cycle?

2018 athlete Jeremiah Salaam out of Frostproof, FL. received his 35th offer Saturday afternoon when he got the call from the Mountaineers. Salaam’s offers include schools like Notre Dame, Ohio State, Florida State, Clemson, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State just to name a few.

With the new offer, Salaam does plan on taking a visit to Morgantown soon, “I am definitely trying to get an official visit set up in January. I only have one set up right now which is Memphis on January 18th.”

Salaam seems to be very intrigued by his West Virginia offer, but with the offer being relatively new, the coaching staff will have to build a strong relationship over the final two months of his recruitment.

“My relationship with the coaching staff is fresh and new, we just started talking after my all-star game yesterday. They want me to play corner which some schools prefer me at more than safety, which I’m fine with.”

Asked if he felt he would fit into Tony Gibson’s 3-3-5 defensive scheme Salaam responded, “Absolutely! It will be an adjustment, but I feel I will be perfectly fine in that scheme.”

Although only standing at 5’10 and 165 pounds, Salaam has impressed college coaches with his ability to accelerate as well as react.

Salaam informed me that he will be making his decision on February 7th, stay tuned for the latest recruiting news and information regarding the Mountaineers!
