Why West Virginia Will Win
WVU is heavily favored to beat Fordham. However, if the Mountaineers shoot as poorly as they did against Coppin State on Wednesday night, the Rams could lock into a nail-biter. Fordham is 5-6 on the season and is coming off a 79-69 win over Florida A&M on Thursday. The Rams are led by Will Tavares, who is averaging 16.6 points per game. Prokop Slanina is a 6-foot-10-forward that averages 12.8 points and 5.6 rebounds per contest. But WVU has more firepower than Fordham. Beetle Bolden comes off the bench and averages 11 points per game. Jevon Carter is the Mountaineers’ all-time leader in steals. He averages 18.9 points and 5.5 rebounds. Daxter Miles (14.3 points) is WVU’s other veteran presence in the backcourt. Against Coppin State, Teddy Allen came off the bench and put on an offensive show. The freshman scored a career-high 24 points. The Mountaineers should win unless shots fail to fall.
