WVU Comes In At No. 2 In Latest AP Poll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va.–Following Saturday’s 89-76 win over then-No.7 Oklahoma, the West Virginia University basketball team jumped four spots in the AP Top 25 to move up to No. 2 behind Villanova.

Last week Duke, Arizona State, Michigan State and Xavier all suffered losses, allowing the Mountaineers (14-1, 3-0 Big 12) to slide on into the No. 2 spot, receiving 12 first place votes.

With the Spartans loss to Ohio State on Sunday, WVU’s 14-game winning streak is the longest in the country.

The last time the Mountaineers were ranked second in the nation was December of 1959.

The Mountaineers are one of five Big 12 teams ranked this week.
