After receiving their first No. 2 ranking in the AP Poll for the first time since 1959 earlier this week the Mountaineers have themselves in yet another unfamiliar spot.
ESPN’s bracketologist Joe Lenardi has moved the Mountaineers up from a No. 2 seed to a No. 1 seed in his latest bracketology on Thursday. The Mountaineers share that seeding with Villanova, Virginia, and Michigan State.
Seven Big 12 teams remain in Lenardi’s bracket with four of those teams being ranked 4 or above, including Oklahoma (2), Kansas (3), and Texas Tech (4)
With 15 games remaining in the regular season, the Mountaineers will have 11 games against teams firmly in Lenardi’s NCAA projected bracket.
