Coach Huggins and the men’s basketball team are working their way through another rigorous season of Big 12 play. The Mountaineers are currently ranked in the AP Top Ten and take on the University of Kentucky this weekend. That ranking isn’t the only new ranking for the team as head coach Bob Huggins was recently named on a short list for potential Coach of the Year.
Coach Huggins is already one of the most highly regarded coaches currently coaching in the NCAA. He has amassed over 800 wins in his time coaching and now it looks that the head coach could gain one more accolade for his coaching career. Huggins is one of ten on this list, with fellow Big 12 coaches Bill Self of Kansas and Texas Tech’s Chris Beard.
While there is still a great amount of basketball yet to played this season, being on this short list is a great accomplishment for Coach Huggins. He has proven time and time again that he is one of the elite coaches in college basketball. Coach Huggins is one of the best coaches and an incredible candidate for Coach of the Year.
While there is still plenty of time left in the season, Mountaineer nation is likely pleased with their head coach’s recognition in making this potential short list. Time will tell if Coach Huggins becomes the recipient of Coach of the Year, but he has certainly had the career thus far to earn it. And he’s not done yet.
