Late yesterday evening 6’5″ 310-pound offensive lineman, Zach Carpenter of Cincinnati, Ohio learned that he had received an offer from West Virginia. Carpenter’s list of offers is rather impressive including schools such as UCLA, Northwestern, Louisville, Duke, Cincinnati, Pitt, Syracuse, and Virginia among others.
“I’ve got several schools that are standing out, but it’s too early to decide. I have close relationships with some coaches compared to others, but I’m still in the process of building relationships and finding the best combination of top academics, top coaching staff and top football program” Carpenter tells me. “Academics are going to play a huge part into my decision.”
Offensive line coach Joe Wickline has been in contact with Carpenter and will continue to be his lead recruiter.
“I received a letter in the mail from Coach Wickline this past Monday. He told me that I was a top offensive line prospect for West Virginia and that they loved my film and what I stand for,” Carpenter stated. “He also invited me to Junior day, but I will not be able to attend, but would like to get to campus this spring to get to know the entire coaching staff and continue to build a relationship with Coach Wickline.”
I firmly believe Carpenter will soar up the Mountaineers’ big board as the off-season continues. His power and lateral quickness give him an edge over some of the other top recruits in the 2019 recruiting class.
As the spring approaches, I will be getting back in touch with Carpenter to see if he has scheduled a visit to Morgantown. Until then, give us a follow on Twitter @Blue_GoldSports and you can follow me @DVNCallihan.
