Indian Hill High School Junior Jalen Thornton has officially committed to the Mountaineers. Thornton also had offers from Kentucky, Cincinnati, Marshall, Toledo and Iowa State. Thornton’s commitment brings WVU’s total to 4 recruits for the 2019 class.
Thornton is a 3-star recruit that is 6-foot-2 and weighs right around 240 pounds. He is a two-way lineman for Indian Hill but is expected to play defensive line for the Mountaineers. He registered 91 tackles, five sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery this season, which earned him first-team all-conference, first-team all-Southeast Ohio and third-team all state.
What is interesting is that when Thornton officially begins his career with the Mountaineers, he will be playing with Dante Stills, just like their dad’s Gary Stills and John Thornton did for the Mountaineers in the late ’90s. Mountaineer fans will be hopeful that the sons can be just as dynamic as their fathers were.
