Four Mountaineers bring Lombardi Trophy to Philadelphia

Sunday night was the culmination of the 2017-2018 NFL Season with the 52nd Super Bowl. The New England Patriots took on the Philadelphia Eagles as Tom Brady went in search of his sixth Super Bowl ring. After four quarters of play, the Eagles were able to overcome the Patriots and are bringing the Lombardi Trophy home to Philadelphia.

Four Mountaineers are getting Super Bowl rings and have crossed off arguably one of the highlights of their careers after last night. The Eagles won 41-33 and at the end of the game, it was clear that Mountaineer Nation was smiling and cheering for their boys near and far.

Najee Goode, Rasul Douglas, Wendell Smallwood and Shelton Gibson are all on the Eagles roster, with Goode getting two tackles against the Patriots defense.

Getting the opportunity to watch your favorite West Virginia players succeed and be apart of a winning organization is always special. Watching four of them on the same team, winning and celebrating  together, shows the true bonds that are made during the time spent wearing the Old Gold and Blue.

Regardless of your NFL affiliation, it’s always special to watch Mountaineers continue on their successes at the professional level. It’s also great for future Mountaineers and young Mountaineers on the football team to see these role models as examples of what happens when you work hard and have the ability to take your abilities to the next level.

From all of Mountaineer nation, congratulations Najee, Rasul, Wendell and Shelton. Enjoy this moment and know that Mountaineer fans everywhere are so happy for you all.
