Mountaineer reserve quarterback Chris Chugunov has decided to leave the program following the spring semester. The redshirt junior will graduate this spring and has decided to not use his final two years of eligibility in Morgantown.
Chugunov took over the quarterback duties after Will Grier broke his hand against Texas. With the injury to Grier, Chugunov was forced into a starting role for the final two games with little game experience. The Skillman, NJ native hasn’t made it clear what his intentions are after graduation in May.
Junior college signee David Isreal announced he was leaving the program several weeks ago, making Chugunov the second quarterback to leave the program. This places WVU in a tough situation with only three quarterbacks remaining on the roster.
