WVU to face Murray State in first round of NCAA Tournament

MORGANTOWN, W.Va.–West Virginia will face Murray State in San Diego on Friday in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

“We played in San Diego in 2001 or something and I thought it was a great place to play,” head coach Bob Huggins said. “It’s a great venue.”

The Mountaineers (24-10) are a five-seed while the Racers (26-5) are a 12-seed.

Murray State earned the automatic bid out of the Ohio Valley Conference after defeating Belmont for the conference title.

The Racers are riding a 13-game winning steak.

Tipoff has not been announced.

The winner will advance to face the winner of the other first-round game between fourth-seeded Wichita State and 13th-seeded Marshall.
