Mountaineers Face Yet Another Devastating Injury On Defensive Side Of Ball

Tony Gibson’s defense faced yet another setback on Thursday when the Mountaineers learned that redshirt sophomore linebacker Brendan Ferns tore his ACL in his left knee for a second time in his WVU career.

An MRI on Monday confirmed the tear that will reportedly need a second reconstructive surgery.

Ferns was listed as the No. 2 MIKE linebacker behind sophomore Dylan Tonkery but was seeing more time at the SAM linebacker position after the injury to Quondarius Qualls two weeks ago.
