WVU's Ahmad expected to return for senior season

MORGANTOWN, W.Va.–According the ESPN’s Jeff Goodman, West Virginia forward Esa Ahmad is expected to withdraw from the NBA Draft.

Ahmad and forward Sagaba Konate both entered their names into the NBA Draft last month but did not sign with agents.

For the Cleveland native, his junior season was anything but stellar. He didn’t appear in a game for the Mountaineers until Jan. 13 because he “did not meet NCAA eligibility requirements”.

Upon returning, the 6-foot-8, 230-pounder struggled on the court at times. He averaged 10.2 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2 assists per game while shooting 45.5 percent from the floor and 30.6 percent from 3-point range.

WVU is still waiting Konate’s decision to return or not.
