MORGANTOWN, W.Va.–Emmitt Matthews Jr. is heading to Morgantown.
On Saturday night the Tacoma, Washington native signed his National Letter of Intent to play for West Virginia University during the 2018-19 season.
The 6-foot-7, 180-pound forward is a four-star prospect from Wilson High School. According to 247sports composite rankings, he is the No. 163 player nationally and the No. 39 small forward in the Class of 2018.
During his senior season, Matthews averaged 22.3 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 2.3 blocks and 1.6 steals per game.
As a junior, he averaged 22.0 points and 8.2 rebounds per contest in 18 games.
Matthews had previously committed to UCONN last fall but was released from his National Letter of Intent after Kevin Ollie was fired.
The commitment now puts the Mountaineers one spot over the scholarship limit.
