MORGANTOWN, W.Va.–CJ Massinburg dropped 43 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as Buffalo defeated No.13 West Virginia 99-94 in overtime on Friday night.
Lamont West led the Mountaineers (0-1) with 22 points. James “Beetle” Bolden had 21 points. Esa Ahmad and Sagaba Konate both added 15 points.
Jeremy Harris scored 16 points for the Bulls (2-0). Jayvon Graves added 14.
Buffalo had a 50-46 edge over WVU on the boards.
The Mountaineers turned the ball over 19 times.
“I think we just set our own game,” WVU head coach Bob Huggins said. “We generally force more turnovers than we commit. They got us 19-11 there and we generally are one of the premier rebounding teams in the country and they got us there.”
The Mountaineers shot 44 percent from the field, 33 percent from beyond the arc and 71 percent from the charity stripe.
The Bulls shot 40 percent from the floor and 30 percent from 3-point range.
WVU travels to South Carolina to take on Monmouth in the first round of the Myrtle Beach Invitational on Thursday.
