It’s that time of year where bowl projections are becoming closer to a reality and less of a fantasy. Each week throughout the season, members of the media have given predictions as to where each team will wind up in those December and January bonus games.
Now that the regular season is essentially wrapped up for the Mountaineers, the latest bowl projections give way to a good old fashioned game of would you rather. The latest projections per ESPN have the Mountaineers either traveling to Orlando for an ACC matchup against the old Big East rival the Syracuse Orange or back to the State of Texas for the Valero Alamo Bowl to face magician Mike Leach and the Washington State Cougars.
The Camping World Bowl, the bowl formerly known as Russell Athletic, occurs early evening in downtown Orlando just three days after Christmas. The Valero Alamo Bowl is the same day, just in San Antonio at the Alamodome. Both bowl options would allow Mountaineer fans to not have to travel over Christmas, which for some can be a deciding factor on whether or not to attend the game.
The question is though: what bowl would you rather see West Virginia play in? An old familiar Big East foe or head coach Dana Holgorsen’s former colleague and offensive magician and juggernaut Mike Leach?
There are obviously pros and cons of both bowls and many fans would likely choose a third, no longer available option of ringing in 2019 on Bourbon Street and playing in the Sugar Bowl. As the regular football season has not ended as many had hoped, New Orleans is off the table and fans are left to rally around whatever bowl invitation West Virginia ends up accepting.
What’s your thought? Orlando and the ACC or Texas and the Pac-12?
